Hi my name is Ssanyu Sematimba and I am a highly anxious, stressed control freak. Wait why am I exposing myself like this. I like to control everything; I like to be in control of everything, now you see I think God finds this character trait of mine very funny. Because I have found myself in many situations where I haven’t been in control of.
You see we all know that God has amazing plans for us. I mean we hear it all the time. We know that God wants nothing but the best of us, but we are all still very worried about our future and how we are supposed to get there. The funny thing about this is that whether you like it or not, you all are control freaks in one area of your life. Whether you want to admit it or not. There is an area in our lives where we need to be fully in control of.
God is SUPER amazing (obviously) and no one can understand His mind. God is too great for us to try and begin to understand. So when God reminds you of a plan He has for you, leave it to Him to figure out, because the minute we try and understand what God is going to do for us, and how He is going to do it for us. The plan He has for us begins to look a bit impossible.
And when things begin to look a bit impossible we try to figure it out ourselves, which makes it more difficult for us to achieve. The work becomes harder, because we try to take on God’s task.
In Matthew 6:25-34 AMP its states
“Therefore I tell you, stop being perpetually uneasy (anxious and worried) about your life, what you shall eat or what you shall drink; or about your body, what you shall put on. Is not life greater [in quality] than food, and the body [far above and more excellent] than clothing? Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father keeps feeding them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by worrying and being anxious can add one unit of measure (cubit) to his stature or to the span of his life? [Ps. 39:5-7.] And why should you be anxious about clothes? Consider the lilies of the field and learn thoroughly how they grow; they neither toil nor spin. Yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his magnificence (excellence, dignity, and grace) was not arrayed like one of these. [I Kings 10:4-7.] But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and green and tomorrow is tossed into the furnace, will He not much more surely clothe you, O you of little faith? Therefore do not worry and be anxious, saying, What are we going to have to eat? or, What are we going to have to drink? or, What are we going to have to wear? For the Gentiles (heathen) wish for and crave and diligently seek all these things, and your heavenly Father knows well that you need them all. But seek (aim at and strive after) first of all His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right), and then all these things taken together will be given you besides. So do not worry or be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will have worries and anxieties of its own. Sufficient for each day is its own trouble.”
Therefor don’t be anxious, because God has always got your back. The only reason we become anxious is because we are overwhelmed with life, and are personally trying to deal with life and all its challenges without God. We are anxious because we cannot control life the way we want to control it. The truth is, is that we literally have no control over our lives, and the sooner you begin to realize that the easier life will become. Instead of fighting God and trying to help Him control your life sit back, and enjoy the ride. The beautiful thing about God is that He allows us to make our own decision; His love for us will never change. So when we want to take full control over our lives He allows you to. You see just like how a farmer cannot put a muzzle on a bull that is ploughing the land. God cannot control us fully if we are trying to figure out life by ourselves.
I love the analogy that the bible gives us about how free the birds are, because they never worry about life the way we do. Think about how free and about how happy you would be, if you were able to give God full control over your life. God promises every single one of us a prosperous and beautiful life. God is just asking us to do one thing. He wants you to fully trust in Him, serve, seek His Kingdom and obey Him. So I urge you to please take a backseat enjoy the ride and allow God to do all the driving.
