When I was young I used to think that God used to live in the sky, and that angels used to play on the clouds. So whenever I was up in the air, I always felt like I was “closer” to God. I then began to think about how strange we are as humans and how it always takes an extreme circumstance/event for us to be able to appreciate how great our God really is. It always takes an extreme high or low to pull us closer to God.
Have you thought about how much we talk to God, and how much time we spend with Him when we are struggling, when we feel alone? Why do we do that?! Why do we speak to God in our extreme moments?
We speak to God in extreme moments, because sometimes we feel like we are unworthy of God’s time, meaning that we feel like God doesn’t have time for us when everything is going okay, when things are not to high or not to low. God wants you to walk with Him in your journey. God wants to be there when you are eating, taking a shower or even when you are taking a selfie. God wants to be with you in everything you do. We don’t have to be in an extreme moment in our life to feel closer to God.
So how does one get closer to God? You need to reach out to Him. It’s that simple, God was always there He was just waiting on you to reach out to Him. There is nothing you can say or do to push God away. Sometimes we feel like we are alone, sometimes we get so lonely and life becomes a blur. We feel like God isn’t there, sometimes we feel like He has distanced Himself from us. That is never the case, because God has always got your back, He wants you to lean on Him, cry to Him. We feel distanced from God, because we have distanced our self from God He loves you, always has and always will. His love is unconditional. We may be conditional beings but His love is Unconditional. There is nothing that can push us away from God.
So we have come to terms with the fact that we cannot push God away from us, but we should never try and earn God’s love. Meaning that God doesn’t love us more, because of the things we do. Our “good doings” don’t make God love us more. Stop trying to prove to God why He should love you more today than He did yesterday. God’s love unlike ours is constant and remains constant. His love is eternal. If His love is eternal then this should encourage us to always walk with God, because He never changes even though we may change. Even when things are stagnant and nothing much is going on, God still loves you and looks after you like how He looked after you when you were struggling and when you were broken.
Allowing God to walk with you in your everyday life makes life that much better, because you are constantly walking in His presence. Meaning that no day is an ordinary day, everyday is a beautiful day; everyday is a journey, an adventure. So I encourage you to live and walk with God everyday, because life becomes so much more easier, and even on your worst days you will know and feel God’s love. You are never alone, and God w
ants you to know that. Accept His love, and walk with Him.
Jeremiah 31:3 –“The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying: I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with loving-kindness.”(NIV)
Romans 8: 35-39 – “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (NIV)
